Vape Snapshot: SX Mini 13W Mi Class Pod Device - YiHi

If you’re a recent convert to vaping from smoking, salt nic pod systems are the easiest devices to pick up. These devices are smaller and more convenient than traditional box mods while offering greater flexibility than basic cigalikes or cartridge-based systems. And as the vapor industry dedicates more and more resources toward improving these tiny devices, we're starting to see pod mods with richer, more compelling sets of features.

That brings us to our latest mini pod system, the SX Mini 13W Mi Class Pod Device by Yihi. Just like mini iPods of yesteryear, this class of vapes has the advantage of being easy to slip in your pocket but compared to a traditional mod they can be harder to handle and lacking in versatility. Let's see how it stacks up.

Design

The design of this pod system is pretty simple. It’s thin and long, with a 1.5 ml capacity pod that's completely protected by the device body - a nice touch for durability, though keeping an eye on liquid levels might be a bit tricky.

The body features a screen to monitor battery level and puff count since the last recharge, a fire button with three-click lock/unlock functionality and a five-click screen brightness adjustment feature. Aside from the screen face, the mod body features a paisley print available in a variety of colors that looks appealing while adding a nice, grippy texture to the device. A micro-USB port on the bottom connects the device for recharging, with a red light indicating a connection that turns off when charging is complete.

The pod has a non-adjustable bottom airflow, a ceramic-coated 1.0-ohm coil, removable top cap with embedded drip tip for refilling and, in a nice touch, a cover that snaps on and off to protect the drip tip from pocket lint or other undesirable gunk while it's not in use.

Power

The Mini Mi has an internal 400mAh battery that charges to full capacity in about 25-30 minutes. It delivers a consistent 13 watts of power, with no available adjustment. Initially, I was skeptical of the small battery power, but because of the low power production, battery life wasn't an issue.

Drawbacks

The biggest drawback to this device is that it only has one airflow setting. Whereas other premium pod devices are beginning to introduce adjustable airflow, the Mini Mi doesn't have it. That said, be prepared for a strictly mouth-to-lung experience with minimal vapor production.

Takeaway

The SX Mini 13W Mi Class Pod Device by YiHi is a pretty good choice for recent ex-smokers. The device, like other pod systems, comes especially recommended for users of salt nicotine e-liquids. While it’s a solid performer and seems well-built, it’s also not the most feature-rich device out there in the broader market. It’s decent, it’s a good little companion for when you want something portable and want to stealth vape, but the Mini Mi seems more like an overbuilt entry-level device than its mid-tier pricing suggests.
