The Best Sub-Ohm Tank Of April 2017

Sigelei has literally revived its brand name with the release of the Sigelei Slydr L 285W Sub Ohm Tank. The Slydr L didn't just come along and dethrone a pretty big name in Smok, they took the Cloud Beast TFV8 line and sent it home with its bags halfway packed and sobbing away its losses. The real battle here has been between the TFV12 and the Slydr L, the battle of the behemoths comes down to which tank can really handle the advertised performance and which of the two hold the lower cost of ownership over its lifespan.

Sigelei launched its Sigelei Slydr L 285W Sub Ohm Tank with a whopping 5 coils. That's an added value of $19.99 on the coils alone. If you take that into account you are virtually paying around $15 or so for the tank alone. Here is the kicker, those coils will last you longer than 3 packs of TFV12 coils, and I can boldly make that claim as an owner of both and a fan of Smok's products.

The Sigelei Slydr L Coils have lasted each of my tanks 2 weeks and counting and I vape at 140 plus watts all day long. Not even the best of RDA wicks have come close to matching that kind of performance and that's the coil that came installed in the tank. Typically my Smok coils last at best 6 days with my heavy vaping needs. The coils are gigantic and feature separators for the wicks so they don't touch which helps keep the integrity of the wicking material pristine for longer. If you look at the wicking process of Smok coils that feature more than dual vertical coils you get cotton pressed against cotton which kind of kills the coils faster. Dollar for dollar this is not a fair fight. In terms of design the one drawback that plagues the Slydr L is its proprietary drip tip which is a nightmare to replace so unlike me don't drop your tank and chip away a chunk of delrin, replacing it at this point in time is impossible. In terms of craftsmanship the Slydr L beats the TFV12 in every single form factor including fill port, air flow control and even heat dissipation. The latter of those three points potentially being the reason for the long lifespan of their coils.

Typically I don't like pushing a sub-ohm tank to the limit for two reason, heat and destroying the coils themselves. The Slydr L became no exception after filling it and giving it time to wick. 75 watts products wisps of vapor, 115 watts started getting good, 140 watts is when this tank really took on a life all its own. At 180 watts it felt like I was vaping at 75 watts, the coolness of the vape and the flavor were astounding. I managed to push it to a full 285 watts and things get a bit interesting north of 200 watts but that's too be expected. That kind of heat doesn't dissipate as easily even with the most expensive of dripper and tanks, I do not recommend chain vaping at 200 plus watts for these very same reason.

So if you vape south of 200 watts and have a mod capable of going as high as 200 watts this is likely one of the few opportunities for a non-dripping vaper to really put that power to use. For its performance, value, and its refusal to play second best the Sigelei Slydr L 285W Sub Ohm Tank gets my nod as the must have tank for this month.
