The Flint 1000mAh Pod Mod Starter Kit is a portable mouth-to-lung (MTL) device and a great All-In-One (AIO) alternative to run-of-the mill pod systems. As with a lot of devices trying to shoehorn their way into the pod class, this one focuses heavily on its miniature size and packing as much power as possible into a stealthy vape device.

The guys over at Geek Vape are really out to fit as much as they can into as tiny of a device as they can build. The kit offers a 1000mAh battery, a 2ml Flint tank and has three selectable voltage settings. Needless to say, this little thing packs quite the punch.

Design

This can get repetitive with pod-sized systems, but they really shine due to their size. That’s what it seems a lot of on-the-go vapers want and that’s what Geek Vape delivers. Standing at 2.18 inches (55.6 mm) tall and .8 inches (22mm) in diameter, this can fit in your hand for a stealth vape on-the-go. With four different colors, black, gun metal, serenity blue, and rainbow, these devices cover the basic array of aesthetic choices.

One thing we'll note here - with the compact tube battery and traditional detachable clearomizer tank topper, the Flint seems more like a modern update on the tried-and-true eGo style vape pen than a traditional pod mod. Consider this a bonus, as replaceable coils are both cheaper and more environmentally-friendly than the disposable tanks used on most pod devices.

Coils

Geek Vape offers two powerful coils, each with three different settings. In the device there’s a 1.6 ohm coil that can be set at either 6.4W, 7.6W, and 9W. The other coil offers a 1.2 ohm can be set at 8.5W, 10W, and 12W, corresponding to the device's voltage output of 3.2, 3.5, or 3.8 volts. These setting are indicated by different colors that light up on the device. Red indicates the lowest voltage, blue the middle, and green at the highest voltage.

Since the tank connects with an industry-standard 510 threading system, you could replace it with another tank using coils with a resistance as low as 0.5 ohm (the Flint doesn't support resistances below this level), delivering as much as 29 watts of power. Don't expect a ton of battery life with that output, though.

Airflow

This device has five settings for airflow, which you can switch by turning the tank’s adjustable head from side to side. There are five holes that you can choose from, all of which are going to deliver a pretty tight mouth-to-lung airflow. But again, the ability to swap out tanks means you could replace the stock clearomizer with one offering improved airflow if you don't like this one out of the box.

Other Features

This device includes a USB cord charging. It also uses a five click on-and-off feature along with a firing button, another trait that gives it more in common with vape pens than traditional pod systems..  

Geek Vape recommends this for nic salt and high nicotine e-liquids and it sure lends itself as a companion for high nicotine content. This device has the correct amount of wattage and hit count that it’ll satisfy you with just a couple hits of high nic e-liquid.

It’s device is water resistant, which is helpful if you’re clumsy and worried about it slipping out of your hand. It’s NOT waterproof, though, so don’t submerge it in water. But it should be able to survive any accidentally splashed water that happens to get on it.

Drawbacks

One major downside to this device is that, despite it using a standard 510-threaded clearomizer tank, you can’t switch out the drip tip. Not everyone is a fan of the Ultem drip tip, which is the industry name for thermoplastic polyetherimide (PEI). These are fairly common and used because they have a high resistance to heat. They really only come in an opaque yellow, which admittedly isn’t for everyone. If that doesn’t strike your fancy or you like your own type of drip tip, then you’ll probably want to steer clear of this device.   

Takeaway

The Flint 1000mAh Pod Mod Starter Kit by Geek Vape is a great device for vapers that want to move past their regular pod mod devices. It’s small, it’s hip, it’s powerful and has great flavor production. All in all, we think it's a solid device.
