What Is A VG-Based E Liquid?

In case you missed our last PG/VG article, here’s a brief recap: PG, or propylene glycol and VG, or vegetable glycerin, are two non-toxic, organic compounds commonly used in food additives, that are also main ingredients in e liquids. E liquids include three main components: a PG or VG base, water, artificial flavoring, and if necessary, nicotine is a fourth optional ingredient. There are e liquids that combine PG and VG at various ratios which create a multitude of vaping experiences. Let’s go over the basics of VG-based e liquids:

Vegetable glycerin, or VG is less common in e liquids than PG, however it certainly has a strong and continuously growing fan base. Perhaps the major distinction between VG and PG e liquids is the subtle, yet noticeable sweet taste in VG-based e liquids. Many vapers enjoy the combination of the sweetness in the VG base with their flavored e juice, while others prefer the odorless, tasteless PG-based e liquids. VG also has a thicker solution than PG, which produces significantly more vapor than its PG-based counterpart, and is not known to cause allergic reactions or severe throat irritation. A negative side effect of VG-based e liquids is phlegm build-up: the thicker solution causes a more subtle throat hit, but can create a build-up of mucous in the throat.
